Steelers Activate Cameron Heyward from Injured Reserve

The Pittsburgh Steelers activated defensive tackle Cameron Heyward from injured reserve on Wednesday, November 2, 2023. Heyward had been on IR since Week 1 after suffering a groin injury in the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers.
Heyward returned to practice last week and was a full participant in all three practices this week. He is expected to start and play in Thursday night's game against the Tennessee Titans.

Heyward's return is a major boost for the Steelers' defense, which has struggled in his absence. The Steelers are currently ranked 30th in the NFL in total defense and 26th in scoring defense.
Heyward is a six-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro. He is one of the most respected players in the NFL and is considered to be one of the best defensive tackles in the league.

"He is a difference maker. He really is," linebacker T.J. Watt said of Heyward's return, via the team's website. "He has been doing it for a long time. A guy that has played in this matchup more than a few times."
Heyward's return is also a big boost for the Steelers' playoff hopes. The Steelers are currently 4-3 and in the thick of the wild card race in the AFC. With Heyward back in the lineup, the Steelers' defense has a much better chance of stopping opposing offenses and helping the team win games.
The Steelers will host the Titans on Thursday Night Football at Acrisure Stadium.
